Content

Many mothers encounter constipation in a child, but you shouldn’t be in a hurry to use the methods of our grandmothers (tubule, bar of soap, enema, others) - especially if the child is a child. This problem can be dealt with by a combination medication called Microlax. It is often prescribed to adults in preparation for bowel examinations or difficulties in emptying. Instructions for use of this drug is simple. Not everyone knows whether such a drug is allowed for children, whether it is suitable for infants.

Release form

Microlax is produced in the form of a viscous colorless solution, which is injected into the rectum. It is placed in microclysters in a volume of 5 ml in a single plastic tube. One box contains 4 or 12 tubes. Each of them has a tip that tapers slightly to the tip. In addition, there is a security seal on each tube, which should be broken off before use.

Composition

Action "Mikrolaksa" provide three connections:

  • Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate. This ingredient is a 70% solution and is represented by a dosage of 9 mg / 1 ml.
  • Sorbitol. This is also a 70% solution, of which 625 mg is contained in 1 ml of the medicine.
  • Sodium citrate. The dosage of this component is 90 mg in 1 ml.

Additionally, within each tube there is glycerol and sorbic acid, there is also purified water. Such components give the solution the desired consistency and prevent its damage.

Operating principle

Mikrolax has a laxative effect due to the effects of its active ingredients:

  • Dilution of fecal masses, which occurs under the influence of sodium lauryl sulfoacetate.
  • The increased flow of water into the lumen of the intestine - due to exposure to sorbitol.
  • Displacement of bound water from the intestinal contents (as a result of the influence of sodium citrate).

The result of the use of microclysters is the softening of the food lump inside the intestine and easier emptying.

Indications

The drug is in demand for constipation caused by various factors:

  • transition to artificial feeding;
  • familiarity with the foods of complementary foods;
  • violation of the diet nursing mom;
  • insufficient water flow - for example, in hot weather;
  • insufficient lactation;
  • mix change;
  • allergic reaction;
  • heredity;
  • improper nutrition of the grown-up child (too small amount of vegetables, fermented milk products, vegetable oil, dried fruits);
  • medication and other reasons.

Most often, "Microlax" is prescribed for constipation, which occurred in a child for the first time - if the tummy massage and drinking did not help. Instructions for use and dosage

Microlax is used once a day (rectally) as follows:

  1. Washing your hands, putting the child and taking one tube, you need to break the seal off its tip.
  2. Further it is not necessary to push the packaging very hard.to get a drop of the solution. It will lubricate the tip so that the introduction to the rectum is easier.
  3. After that, the tip is inserted into the patient's anus.. If the child is already 3 years old, the tip is inserted completely, for its entire length. Children under three years of age should only be inserted half (for such patients there is a mark on the tip).
  4. Pushing on the tube, you must correctly enter the entire solution into the rectum.
  5. Continuing to put pressure on the packaging, remove the tip and discard the used tube.

The duration of treatment with microclysters is determined by the doctor, but usually the product is used only for one day or several days - as emergency help. If the symptoms persist, you need to further examine the child and, if necessary, prescribe another laxative medication. Too long use of "Mikrolaks" can adversely affect the work of the digestive tract.

What if microclysters did not help?

The medicine usually works 5-15 minutes later after its use. Most babies with constipation have a stool after microclysters after five minutes. If the child did not go to the toilet after the procedure for 15 minutes, it is advised to wait a little more. Some children need a little more time (up to 30 minutes) to take a drug.

If, however, half an hour after the injection of “Mikrolax”, there is no effect, the doctors recommend giving the baby water and laying it on his stomach, having a massage. For such a massage, you need to carry out circular movements, not very pressing on the tummy. Move the hand advised around the navel (clockwise).

After using microclysters, it is important to monitor the well-being of the crumbs. If the child is calm and does not cry, his intestines are not yet full. Wait until emptying a little longer. If the child by his behavior shows that constipation is still there, "Mikrolaks" did not help, you need to contact the doctor.

Overdose

As the manufacturer notes, there have been no cases of exceeding the dose of "Mikrolaks" before this time. This is due to the fact that the medicine is packaged in tubes that are used for one microclyster. So the error with the dosage is excluded.

Interaction with other drugs

Since microclyster contains sorbitol, “Mikrolaks” cannot be used together with sodium or calcium polystyrene sulfonate, because such a combination of drugs can cause intestinal necrosis. The manufacturer does not mention incompatibility with any other medicines.

Terms of sale

Mikrolaks represents a group of OTC drugs, so it is freely sold in pharmacies, but it is not recommended to buy such a tool for a young child without consulting a gastroenterologist, pediatrician or other specialist.The average price of a pack of four microclysters is 280-320 rubles.

Reviews

About the use of "Mikrolaksa" for children usually there are good reviews. Parents say that the drug acts very quickly (for most children - after 5-10 minutes) and is easily used at home, replacing an enema. Many mothers call the drug release form convenient, noting that it is easy to open the tube, and the insertion of the tip does not cause any discomfort in the children.

The main advantage of "Mikrolaks" is safety, because such a multi-ingredient drug acts only locally. Its components do not enter the general bloodstream, but leave the body along with feces. For this reason, most babies do not have side effects. Only occasionally, little patients complain of pain or discomfort, and allergies to microclyster are found in isolated cases.
