Composition and form

Under the brand "Tizin", which owns the company "Johnson & Johnson", offers several drugs against the common cold. Initially, a drug with this name contained tetrizolin and was produced in the form of nasal drops. Such a product is distributed abroad, and in Russia Tizin drugs are represented by several types of nasal sprays.

  • "Tizin Classic". This drug was previously called "Tizin Xylo." Its main component is xylometazoline hydrochloride. Depending on the concentration of such a compound, Tizin Classic for children (in 1 ml of this product there is 0.5 mg of the active substance, that is, a solution of 0.05%) and a more concentrated preparation for adults (it is 0.1% - because each milliliter contains 1 mg of xylometazoline). Among the excipients in the preparation "Classic" you can see sodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride and other components.
  • "Tizin Expert". Such a drug was previously called "Tizin Xylo Bio". It is also presented in two dosages, as well as “Classic”, and is intended for the same age categories (0.05% medicine is called children's). The main difference of this drug is the presence of the second active substance - hyaluronic acid in the form of sodium hyaluronate. In addition, there is no preservative in the "Expert" line, which is benzalkonium chloride in the "Classic" preparations.
  • "Tizin Alergi". This drug is different from the previous active ingredient, as it does not contain xylometazoline, and levocabastine. Such a substance in the form of hydrochloride is presented in 1 ml of solution in the amount of 0.5 mg, and one spray dose contains it in a dosage of 50 μg Additionally, the drug has hypromellose, propylene glycol, sterile water and some other compounds.

According to their physical characteristics, all preparations are a colorless (sometimes yellowish) solution, in which there are no suspensions or inclusions. The medicine may have a slight characteristic odor. All medicines are sold in bottles made of brown glass ("Tizin Classic") or dense white polyethylene ("Tizin Expert" and "Tizin Alerdzhi").

Inside one bottle is 10 ml of solution. The bottles have a metering device and a plastic cap. Since all the sprays are dosed, the 0.05% preparation contains 140 doses of the medicine, and within the 0.1% preparation there is at least 70 doses. One bottle of Tizina Alergi is a source of 100 doses of the drug.

A special feature of the Expert line is also the presence of a special system of filters and a helix with silver ions inside the pump. Thanks to this unique design, bacteria cannot get inside the bottle.

Operating principle

According to their mechanism of action, the drugs "Classic" and "Expert" are alpha adrenomimetics.They affect alpha-type adrenoreceptors, as a result of which the vessels contract, the amount of nasal discharge decreases, and the swelling disappears. The therapeutic effect after hitting xylometazoline in the nasal cavity develops within 5-10 minutes. At the same time, the active component of the spray is almost not absorbed, but acts only at the point of entry of the medication.

The presence of hyaluronic acid in the composition of “Expert” preparations gives such solutions an additional moisturizing effect. Thanks to this component, after the treatment with the spray, the nasal mucous membrane recovers faster.

Levocabastine, which provides the action of Tizin Alergi, is a histamine receptor blocker. The consequence of its selective effects on these receptors will be the elimination of itching in the nose, sneezing and other symptoms of an allergic rhinitis. Like other products of this brand, This spray makes it easier for patients 5 minutes after application and lasts up to 12 hours.

Indications

Taking into account the mechanism of action, Tizin Allergy is prescribed to patients who have been diagnosed with a year-round or seasonal rhinitis of an allergic nature. Preparations from the lines “Expert” and “Classic” can also be used for allergic rhinitis, but are also prescribed in other situations:

  • if it is necessary to eliminate congestion and swelling in the common cold provoked by ARVI or pathogenic bacteria;
  • if you want to facilitate the secretion of sinusitis;
  • if a child has middle ear inflammation;
  • if the little patient has some kind of manipulation in the area of the nasopharynx.

From what age is appointed?

All types of "Tizina" are contraindicated for the treatment of children under two years of age. “Classic” and “Expert” preparations for children with Xylometazoline content in a concentration of 0.05% are prescribed at the age of 2-6 years, and solutions with a concentration of 0.1% are prescribed to patients older than six years. Spray "Allergy" can be applied from the age of six.

Contraindications

The only reason to refuse to use "Tizina Alergi" in a child with an allergic rhinitis is hypersensitivity to any spray ingredient. In addition, caution in treating this drug requires children with kidney disease.

Other means of the brand "Tizin" do not prescribe:

  • with atrophic rhinitis;
  • with glaucoma;
  • with intolerance of the main or auxiliary ingredient;

The doctor's control when using the drugs "Classic" and "Expert" is needed for thyrotoxicosis, pheochromocytoma, porphyria, or diabetes.

Side effects

After the nasopharynx has been treated with preparations from the Expert or Classic lines, a burning sensation, increased nasal discharge, or frequent sneezing may appear. In some patients, the use of the spray does not eliminate the swelling, but only enhances it. Occasionally, after the use of these drugs, fatigue, insomnia, tachycardia, an increase in blood pressure, arrhythmia and other negative symptoms occur. In such situations, a medical examination is required.

Overly long treatment "Tizinom", which includes xylometazoline, can provoke the appearance of a medical rhinitis. Due to the development of the phenomenon of recoil, nasal congestion increases, which is why the medicine has to be used even longer. The result of this "addiction" will be chronic swelling of the nasopharynx or even atrophy of the mucous membrane.

The use of Tizina Alergi sometimes causes nausea, burning in the nose, sinusitis, headache, nose pain, drowsiness, nose bleeding, sore throat, shortness of breath and other ailments. If these symptoms appear, it is recommended to show the patient to the doctor and select another therapy.

Instructions for use

Before using any Tizin spray for the first time, you need to remove the protective cap from the bottle and make a few clicks so that a cloud of drug particles appears. Only after these actions can you begin to use the dosage prescribed by the doctor. One click on the sprayer corresponds to a single dose of the drug.

With the introduction of the drug in the nasal cavity, the bottle should be placed vertically. Do not point the spray gun down or to the side. Before using the spray, it is important to clear the mucous membrane of excess secretions, and during the injection the child must breathe through the nose. After spraying, the bottle is closed with a cap and cleaned out of the reach of children.

A single dose of drugs "Expert" and "Classic" is one injection. A child under six years old 0.05% medicine pshikayut once or twice a day. For children older than six years, the use of a 0.1% spray is allowed up to three times per day.

The duration of use of these drugs should not exceed 5-7 days, because a longer treatment threatens with the appearance of addiction and adverse reactions. If you need to use the medication longer, you should take a break for several days, and then continue the therapy, after consulting with your doctor.

The drug "Allergy" must be applied twice a day, two doses in each nostril, which corresponds to a dosage of 200 µg (100 µg each). If the symptoms of rhinitis are very pronounced, the doctor may recommend more frequent use - up to 4 times a day. The duration of treatment with such a drug is determined individually, since it is injected until the signs of allergy are eliminated.

Overdose

If the Classic and Expert drugs were used at a higher dose or the child accidentally drank the bottle solution, the overdose will manifest as tachycardia, fever, nausea, respiratory disorders, dilated pupils or other negative symptoms. When severe poisoning occurs drowsiness, bradycardia, pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest, and other dangerous phenomena. If an overdose is detected, immediately flush the stomach and seek medical attention.

An overdose of the drug "Alergi" when used in the nose usually does not occur. If the patient accidentally drinks this medicine, a sedative effect develops, the rhythm of heartbeats accelerates and the blood pressure decreases. In such a situation, drinking plenty of water is indicated so that the active substance of the solution is more rapidly excreted in the urine.

Drug interaction

"Tizin Classic", as well as "Tizin Expert", is incompatible with some antidepressants, since their joint use can adversely affect the cardiovascular system. The use of Allergy spray is not recommended with oxymetazoline preparations, as they will worsen the absorption of levocabastine.
