Ribomunil for children: instructions for use

Content

Ribomunil is a group of drugs with immunomodulatory effects. Such a tool is able to protect against the most common bacteria that cause rhinitis, sore throat, bronchitis and many other diseases. Is it possible to treat children with Ribomunil, is this medicine used prophylactically, and in what doses is it used at an early age?

Release form

Ribomunil is available in tablets, presented in two dosages. They have almost white color, round shape and no smell. The drug with a lower dose is sold for 12 tablets per pack, and the medicine with a higher content of active ingredients is sold in boxes of 4 tablets. This amount is enough for one week of treatment.

Especially for young patients, the drug is made in the form of granules (sometimes they are called powder). They are placed in portioned sachets, and one pack contains 4 sachets. Such granules are white and smell nothing.

After dilution with water, the resulting solution is taken orally.

Composition

The action of Ribomunyl is provided by bacterial ribosomes obtained from pneumococci, Klebsiella pneumonia, streptococci of pyogenic and hemophilic sticks. In one tablet, they are contained in an amount of 250 or 750 µg (0.25 or 0.75 mg) and supplemented with proteoglycans from Klebsiell pneumonia membranes at a dose of 0.375 mg and 1.125 mg respectively. The auxiliary ingredients of the tablets, ensuring their density, are sorbitol, silicon and magnesium stearate.

The active substances of the granules are also ribosomes and proteoglycans. Their number in the same bag is the same as in tablets with a higher content of these components (750 mg each). The auxiliary substances in such Ribomunil are the same, but additionally the granules contain D-mannitol and polyvidone.

Operating principle

The complex of ribosomes and proteoglycans, which is part of Ribomunyl, is derived from the most common pathogens affecting the respiratory tract and ENT organs. Thanks to their presence The drug stimulates both specific and non-specific immunity.

Bacteria ribosomes are antigens, so in response to their entry into the human body, specific antibodies begin to form (they act like a vaccine). Membrane proteoglycans have the ability to enhance the activity of leukocytes and macrophages, as well as stimulate other nonspecific immune factors. Besides, The use of Ribomunil activates the production of immunoglobulins, affects the function of lymphocytes and the production of interferons.

All these effects help prevent respiratory infections, and if the disease manifests itself, the drug increases the effectiveness of its treatment and reduces the duration of therapy.

Its use reduces the need for prescribing antibiotics and bronchodilators, and in chronic pathologies it prolongs the period of remission.

Instructions for use

Tablets should be swallowed and washed down with water, and the granules are first dissolved in boiled non-hot water (it needs about 100 ml), and then this treatment solution is given to the child. If the patient cannot drink the entire diluted medication at once, it is permissible to give it in 2-3 doses.

A single dose of the drug does not depend on age and is 750 micrograms (the number of ribosomes is taken into account), that is, 0.75 mg granules and tablets contain one dose, and in tablets of 0.25 mg there is only a third of the dose, so you need to take three of them at once.

Ribomunil regimen is as follows:

  • In the first week of the medication is taken 4 days in a row, and then make a break for 3 days.

Preventive use in children is recommended up to 6-7 years of age, until the child’s immune system is mature enough and can not provide full protection against pathogens.

Reviews

Parents leave different reviews about Ribomunil. In many of them, the drug is praised and it is noted that its use has helped alleviate the course of infection or reduce the incidence of diseases. According to moms, their children even after 1-2 courses were much less likely to get sick and more easily tolerated an infectious disease. However, there are also negative opinions expressed by parents, who noticed that soon after the drug was canceled, the child started to get sick again very often.

Doctors also speak about the drug ambiguously. Someone from the medical community considers it to be harmful or useless, and someone says that he noticed in his practice his effectiveness and positive effect on the immunity of young patients. Dr. Komarovsky considers Ribomunil to be a good remedy for strengthening local immunity, but warns that his method should be supplemented with other preventive measures (adequate air moistening, a full diet, frequent walks, and so on).
