Features and size range of Merries diapers

Content

Japanese diapers of various brands all over the world are considered to be elite products of exemplary quality using the most advanced technologies, however, for our consumers they are not so familiar - the lack of mass advertising affects them. In addition, the products of different companies, even if released in one country, cannot be considered as a whole, therefore an inexperienced consumer just needs to have more information. Consider what are the diapers brand Merries, which are often included in the TOP diapers from around the world.

Brand information

As you know, diapers are not a Japanese invention - in their present form they first appeared in the United States, and in Japan itself for a long time there were no manufacturers who would produce such products. However, a great advantage of this country is the efficiency and ingenuity of local residents, thanks to which it is possible to quickly eliminate any lag from other countries.

The Merries story begins in 1983, when the same Pampers in their homeland were already a recognizable brand and made several revolutions in the industry in a row. It would seem that a young small company will have to start with relatively primitive versions that do not require special research or technology, but the Japanese “rushed off the bat”, and immediately entered the market with a diaper, which not only could “breathe”, but across the surface.

With reliable protection from leaks, the baby's skin was able to not constantly contact with a wet environment, which saved her from diaper rash. Naturally, the new brand was quickly appreciated in its homeland.

Innovations have not been for quite a long time - until 1996, when Merries introduced the diaper with reusable rounded velcro. Such an innovation only at first glance seems unworthy of special attention - in fact, it shows that the manufacturer cares about the comfort of both parents (reusability) and children (soft velcro). It is logical to assume that the firm would not have taken care of the softness of the velcro if all the rest did not match.

In 2004, Merries released their first diaper with a fill indicator. It was already a step towards modern parents who value their time and do not want to periodically unbutton the diaper in vain. Thanks to the new technology, they could now do it only when the accessory needed to be replaced. It is clear that the timely replacement of the product contributed to less irritation of the skin of the child, and in 2008 the products became even more convenient, because the Japanese changed the principles of cut so that all their models would interfere with free movement.

Today, Merries products are rightly considered to be one of the best examples of comfort combinations for parents and children, as well as modern technologies.

Benefits

Modern supermarkets are filled with various diapers from several world-famous and many little-known suppliers, and parents want to choose only the best. A large role is played here by subjective factors, however, the variety of choices often only complicates the search for the optimal option. For this reason, many parents find it necessary to trust the general characteristics, confirmed by many other parents.

If we talk about the products of the brand Merries, the most often mentioned the following positive features:

  • such diapers are extremely thin and soft, their inner layer is distinguished by a very gentle touch, and therefore they are simply very pleasant for children, and practically indispensable for newborns;
  • the manufacturer diligently avoids the use of any potential allergens in the production process, because diapers of this company do not cause allergies almost never;
  • realizing that diaper rash and other skin irritations are still possible, the developers made an attempt to minimize them, adding to one of the diaper layers the witch hazel extract, which has a pronounced antiseptic effect;
  • the density of the diaper and reliable protection against leakage does not prevent the baby’s skin from breathing, making various skin problems seem less likely;
  • the filling indicator is a nice bonus for all series of Merries diapers and allows parents to draw correct conclusions about the state of the product at a glance;
  • A good invention is also a special adhesive tape in the upper part of the product, thanks to which the used copy can be securely wrapped, without fear that the children's surprise will spill out.

disadvantages

After reading the previous section, many parents were probably inspired and decided that this is the desired best option, but not everything is so simple. If Merries had only good features, they would have “pushed” all competitors long ago and would have no alternatives, however, the remaining competition shows that some parents consciously make a choice in favor of something else. We will immediately say that in this case the advantages still overlap the disadvantages, but each consumer has the right to decide for himself what to choose.

And for the right choice, he is obliged to know about potential drawbacks, which we also inquired about:

  • Many parents complain that in small diapers, the elastic on the belt does not wrap the child around the entire circumference of its body - it is not represented behind, because of which the integrity of the contour is broken in this place, and leakages are likely;
  • Merries' highest subtlety, described as an advantage, is also a disadvantage, because such an accessory is not able to absorb too much;
  • no diaper can save forever from leaks, and such an “accident” will happen immediately, as it will be overflowed, and in our case, as we already understood, this happens rather quickly;
  • as befits Japanese diapers (not just Merries), the products of the company in question do not always correspond to the declared size - many consumers say that it is better to take a little more diapers at once;
  • Merries, like their main Japanese competitors, belong to high-end products, and all these new-fangled technologies like the filling sensor cannot be too cheap;
  • in fact, it is quite realistic to find relatively inexpensive diapers of this brand, however, many parents caution against making such a purchase - the company in question quite often becomes a role model for scammers producing fakes and eye-catching reduced prices.

Series

Merries diapers in many ways bribe the parents with the variety of their series, therefore, the opportunity to choose something optimal for any situation. So, the company produces night diapers, game pants and even models for swimming.

Interestingly, the classic disposable diapers from this company have the opposite characteristic - they are extremely versatile. This product is a classic shape with a reusable Velcro, having the advantages and disadvantages that have been described above. The developers have tried to produce a product for all occasions - it is assumed that this accessory will be suitable for newborns in any situation, regardless of gender, skin type or degree of activity. This will significantly simplify the task of choice for parents, who sometimes are simply lost in comparisons of numerous models with very similar characteristics.

As for the separately produced shorts, by their characteristics, they almost completely duplicate the usual diapers. The key difference is that they are intended for children who have grown up a bit, for whom increased activity is typical. Here, the banal velcro is not enough, since the child in motion can easily unzip the fasteners, but a special elastic belt allows keeping the product on the baby without interfering with its activity.

Dimensions

The size range of diapers and panty Merries has its own characteristic features - for example, sometimes by the size designation it is possible to determine which type of product is in front of us. A good advantage of the brand is that it manufactures products for both the smallest and quite large children, however, parents should remember what the brand is “kicked off” - according to the size and weight correspondence indicated in the table, it is not always possible to find the best option.

Let's start with the diapers:

  • for the youngest children weighing 0-5 kg, diapers of the size Newborn (NB) are issued, which are usually relevant no longer than several weeks after birth, although 90 pieces are immediately put in a pack;
  • for heavier newborns, the first size can be immediately S, calculated on a weight in the range of 4-8 kg - such products in a package are usually 82;
  • an older child in a weight category of 6-11 kg needs diapers size M, produced in batches of 64 pieces each;
  • for many children, the last ones, in fact, are diapers of size L, because they are designed for babies 9-14 kg - this package contains 54 products;
  • The largest size for Merries diapers is XL, designed for fairly large tots from 12 to 20 kg - those can be bought for 44 pampers in a pack.

It should be noted that for diapers the size of the package is standard, and does not allow variations, but with children's panties the situation is somewhat different - there is a gradation for small and large packages. In addition, the exact description for each weight category is almost always different here, so the table should be given separately.

  • Since the concept of panties itself implies an active and restless child, such products are not too small - they begin immediately with size M. In this case, the weight category is slightly smaller than that of diapers - 6-10 kg (versus 6-11 kg), in one a pack may be 28 or 58 copies.
  • The weight category of the panty L is no different from that for diapers, and implies a baby’s anthropometry within 9-14 kg. It is this size of pants that often becomes the first for a child, and the package has 22 or 44 products.
  • As in the case of diapers, panties size XL for many children are the last to absorb, however, the weight category here is somewhat extended, and is 12-22 kg. Such products usually do not need too much, because the sizes of packs are relatively small - 19 or 38 pieces.
  • The need for XXL is relatively rare, and diapers do not do these at all, because such a child must weigh at least 15 kg (and not more than 26 kg). Usually, the panties of this series are bought either for rather heavy children, or for those who are somewhat late with potty training, and since the latter at this stage is already starting to rush, only one type of pack of 26 pieces is produced.

It should be noted that the absolute majority of sellers set the same prices for all packs, regardless of size. On the one hand, this means that as a child grows, each individual accessory for caring for it becomes more and more expensive, on the other hand, this can be justified, because the manufacturer is forced to spend more materials on the needs of the older child.

How to recognize a fake?

Unfortunately, the products of this company are often forged by fraudsters, and you should not expect the same quality from a fake as the original.Counterfeit diapers may have a shorter shelf life (even different from that indicated on the package), often occur on the side, and in some cases even raise concerns about the possible use of harmful chemicals in the production process.

In order not to fall for such a poor-quality product, parents should pay attention to some important points.

  • The exact number of diapers in the pack and the lack of variation in this regard is a kind of protection against forgery. For example, the original manufacturer does not have and did not have packs of 24 pieces each, and if you see exactly this one, this is a fake. The authors of counterfeit themselves often refer to the fact that it is not so fake as an “analog”, precisely because everything does not coincide literally.
  • For counterfeit products, the filling indicators, naturally, do not shine with quality. You can detect this even at the selection stage, because the fakes use fuzzy, smearing blue paint.
  • The original product is decorated with a characteristic pattern in the form of a bunny with a velcro. In the pursuit of saving, unscrupulous "copiers" sometimes do not depict him at all, but rather do it, but not entirely successfully, with noticeable differences.
  • Real Merries are famous for their amazing softness, because they are quite easy to identify by touch. Handicraft production, issuing their products for the brand, simply do not have such technologies, and even strive to save, it is not surprising that the outer layer of their diapers is more like ordinary oilcloth.
  • Hypoallergenic Merries emit nothing into the atmosphere, that is, they simply have almost no odor, which cannot be said about the low-grade raw materials used by fraudsters - it is characteristic of it "chemistry", which already speaks of a health hazard.

Reviews

Most of the comments on the maternity theme sites agree that Merries products, at least, deserve attention. Parents appreciate the concern for the health and comfort of the child, they also like the fact that the developers have not forgotten about them: here you and reliable protection from leaks, and technology in the form of a filling indicator. Hypoallergenicity also refers to obvious advantages - for many, these diapers have been salutary.

The products of the Japanese brand are usually criticized for a high cost - experienced parents claim that you can find a similar product (albeit often without an indicator) for much more modest money. Quite often, the notorious lack of elastic in the back is also scolded in small sizes, which allows the product to flow in this place, and some discrepancy in size, which prevents the exact diaper from being selected exactly. The separate devastating comments stand apart, where there is practically no word about the benefits - their authors, apparently, were not lucky to face a fake, because otherwise it cannot be explained.
