Food for children: instructions for use

Content

Almost all pathological processes that affect the respiratory system, change the properties of sputum. This prevents the bronchial cleansing and recovery from various diseases of the respiratory tract, so drugs called mucolytics were created to combat viscous and thick sputum. One of them is the French medicine Fluditek.

Such a tool is considered safe and effective, so it is often written out in childhood. But in order for the drug to bring the expected improvements, it is important to know about the dosages recommended for children, the duration of use and other nuances.

Release form

The most popular type of Flulytek is syrup, which is produced with different concentrations of the active ingredient. It is sold in glass vials of 125 milliliters, to which a measuring cup is attached. A less concentrated drug (2%) is an orange clear liquid that smells like banana. Fluditec, which contains more active substance (5%), is distinguished by its green color and caramel aroma.

In addition to the syrup, the drug is also released in portion sachets containing 10 ml of viscous liquid. It is a clear solution that has a caramel smell and a light brown tint. These sachets are sold in packs of 10, 12 or 15 pieces.

Composition

The main component of the syrup and the Fluditec solution, which provides the drug with a mucolytic effect, is called carbocysteine. In 1 ml of syrup it is contained in a dose of 20 mg or 50 mg, and one sachet with a solution will immediately give 750 mg of such a component.

The auxiliary ingredients of orange and green syrups are the same, with the exception of dyes and flavoring. They are glycerol, sodium hydroxide, sucrose, purified water and methyl parahydroxybenzoate. The solution of Fluditec placed in a sachet is sodium saccharinate, maltitol, gietellose, sorbitol and water. This form of the drug also includes methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium hydroxide and flavors.

Operating principle

Fluditec affects the goblet cells, which are located in the mucous membrane of the bronchi. In particular, carbocysteine in the composition of the drug affects the enzyme, called sialic transferase. This enzyme is responsible for the secretion of mucus by the goblet cells. The result of this effect is the normalization of the components of the secret of the bronchi (sialomucins), the restoration of fluidity and viscosity of mucus, which causes the release of sputum.

In addition, the drug stimulates the restoration of the structure of the mucous membrane and has a positive effect on the ciliary epithelium. In carbocysteine, the effect on local immunity is also noted due to the restoration of mucus components, it acts as a nonspecific defense, and activating the production of immunoglobulin A (this protection is specific).

Ingested medication in 2-3 hours reaches the maximum concentration in the blood and penetrates into the bronchial tissue, remaining in the mucosa up to 8 hours. Removal of the drug occurs in the urine.

Indications

As noted in the instructions to Flyteku, the drug is prescribed for diseases of the respiratory tract, occurring with changes in the state of sputum.

  • The remedy is most commonly prescribed for tracheitis and bronchitis. Usually, the drug is in demand in the acute form of such diseases, but it is no less effective in the case of their chronic course. As a result of using Flyuitek with these pathologies, a dry cough becomes productive and the airway clears.
  • One of the indications for the use of the drug is pneumonia. With this disease, it is also important to normalize the state of sputum, because it affects the speed of recovery.
  • The mucolytic effect of the drug is also in demand in asthma. If a patient has been diagnosed with this disease, Fluditec is prescribed as an additional means capable of thinning viscous mucus.
  • Annotation to the drug also notes the possibility of its use in ENT practice. Fluditec is prescribed for sinusitis, adenoids, laryngitis, runny nose, otitis and other diseases.
  • Another reason to appoint Fluditec is to prepare for the diagnosis of the condition of the bronchi. The drug is given before bronchoscopy or bronchography, so that thick sputum does not interfere with the procedure.

From what age is prescribed?

The drug is contraindicated for children under two years old, and babies who have already turned 2 years old can be given only 2 percent syrup. This drug is usually called Flyuditek for children. A more concentrated syrup, in each milliliter of which contains 50 mg of the active substance, is not administered until the age of 15. Fluditec in sachet can also be used only in adolescents over 15 years of age.

  • nausea, flatulence, pain in the stomach and other negative symptoms of gastrointestinal irritation;
  • weakness, malaise, or dizziness;
  • hives, angioedema, or other allergic reaction.

Instructions for use

Syrup is given to children undiluted, using a teaspoon or tablespoon to dispense. However, it is much more convenient to use a measuring cup, which is sold with a bottle of medicine. On such a cup there are marks 5, 10 and 15 ml.

In order for the active component of Flyitek to be fully absorbed, the use of such a drug should not be combined with meals. It is best to give the child a syrup before meals in about an hour. And reception is also possible after the child eats, but not earlier than in 2 hours.

The duration of treatment with Fluditec should be determined by the doctor taking into account the course of the disease. Most often, the medication is prescribed in a course of 5-10 days.

Children 2-15 years old

Small patients of this age, as already noted, are allowed to give only Fluditec in syrup containing 20 mg / ml carbocysteine. A single portion of this drug is a teaspoon, that is, 5 ml. When taking this amount of syrup at a time, the child will receive 100 mg of the active ingredient.

The frequency of use and the daily dose in children of different ages is different:

  • if the patient is more than 5 years old, then the syrup is taken three times, that is, the daily dose is 300 mg.

Patients over 15 years old

At this age, the dose of the drug corresponds to the dosage, which is prescribed to adults, and is 750 mg carbocysteine. A teenager can get this amount of active substance from 15 ml of syrup with a concentration of 50 mg / ml (from one tablespoon) or from one portion sachet with a solution. At the age of 15 years old, the reception of Flylutek should be threefold.

Overdose

Too much syrup causes abdominal pain, thinning of the stool and nausea. If such signs of overdose appear, symptomatic treatment is recommended.

Reviews

More than 80% of reviews on the use of Fliitek with bronchitis, otitis, laryngitis and other diseases are positive. They call the syrup effective and praise for a pleasant taste, ease of dosing and detailed annotation. According to moms, syrup provokes allergies and other adverse symptoms very rarely, and relieves cough rather quickly.

Of the deficiencies of the drug most often mention its high cost, because of which often seek a medicine with the same effect, but cheaper.

Some parents complain of a large number of chemical additives in the composition, and sometimes the effect of the drug is not strong enough.

Analogs

Other drugs based on carbocysteine may be substituted for Flyteku.

  • Libeksin muko. Such a preparation is represented by a syrup with the same concentration as the Fluditec syrups, therefore the age limits of these medicines are the same.
  • Bronchobos. This medicine is available in the form of syrup and capsules. A syrup of 2.5% is prescribed for children over 3 years old, and capsules and a 5% syrup are used from the age of 15.
  • Fluifort. The effect of this drug is provided by the lysine salt of carbocysteine. The drug is represented by syrup - it is prescribed to children older than a year - and the granules from which they make a suspension (it is contraindicated up to 16 years).

Instead of Flyuditek, the doctor may also prescribe another mucolytic agent. Among the drugs in this group, several drugs are especially popular.

  • Ambrobene. Such a medicine, the active ingredient of which is Ambroxol, is represented by a variety of forms - tablets, syrup, solution for injections, capsules and solution, which is taken orally or used for inhalation. In childhood, Ambrobene can be used from birth.
  • ACC. The therapeutic effect of this drug is due to acetylcysteine. It is prescribed from the age of two and produced in syrup, granules, effervescent tablets and injection solution.
  • Bromhexine. Such a mucolytic is produced in the form syrup, pills, drops and solution. Pediatricians prescribe it from birth, but babies under 2 years old are given only under the supervision of a physician.
  • Lasolvan. This is another drug based on Ambroxol, which is produced in the form of syrup, lozenges, solution and tablets. It can be used in children of any age.
  • Ascoril. The effect of such a syrup or tablets is due to the presence in its composition of three active compounds - bromhexine, guaifenesin and salbutamol. They affect bronchial secretions and help cough up mucus. For children, such a drug in syrup is allowed from 1 year, in solid form - from six years.

In some cases, a child with respiratory illnesses is prescribed medications from other groups, such as drugs such as Erespal, Salbutamol, Bronholitin, Sinekod and other drugs. However, they cannot be called analogues of Flyitek, because their composition and mechanism of action are different.

For this reason, if it is impossible to use the Fluditec syrup in a child, the choice of another medicine should be entrusted to the attending physician.

You will learn more about the principle of action of the drug in the following video.
