Ismigen for children: instructions for use

Content

If a child often suffers from acute respiratory infections and at the same time runny nose, laryngitis or bronchitis do not go away for a long time, doctors recommend special preparations that strengthen the immune system, and use microbial cells in the form of lysates in their manufacture. Such cells are destroyed, therefore they are unable to cause the disease, but their entry into the children's organism provokes an immune response.

One of the preparations based on such lysates is "Ismigen". It is often prescribed to children as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for acute respiratory diseases.

Release form

"Ismigen" is one of the products of the well-known pharmaceutical manufacturer "Stada" and is represented by only one form - sublingual tablets.

They have a light cream color with separate patches of brown. Such tablets have a round flat shape and an unexpressed mint smell. The drug is packaged in blisters of 10 pieces and sold for 10 or 30 tablets in one pack.

Composition

The action of "Immigrant", as already noted above, is provided by the lysates of microorganisms, presented in one tablet at a dosage of 7 mg. In the composition of the drug there are such destroyed bacteria:

  • Staphylococcus aureus;
  • pyogenic streptococcus;
  • Streptococcus viridans;
  • 6 types of pneumococci;
  • Klebsiella pneumonia and its subspecies Klebsiella ozena;
  • hemophilus bacillus type B;
  • Neisseria cataris.

To make the drug solid, but at the same time it was quickly absorbed in the mouth, microcrystalline cellulose, calcium hydrogen phosphate, silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate are added to the lysates. Also in the composition of the drug is mint flavor, ammonium glycyrrhizinate and glycine. These ingredients give Ismigen a sweetish mint flavor.

How does it work?

The drug is considered an immunostimulating agent, since the mechanically destroyed microbial cells present in it activate nonspecific immunity and have a specific effect, similar to vaccination, because they contain antigens. Reception of "Immigrant" stimulates the production of immunoglobulin A and lysozyme, and also affects the activity of phagocytosis and the number of immune cells, so that infectious agents are destroyed faster.

The use of pills reduces the incidence of acute respiratory infections, and if the disease has developed, the drug helps to reduce its duration and quickly get rid of fever, shortness of breath, cough and other unpleasant symptoms.

When you receive "Immigrant" the need for anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics is reduced, and if the child has chronic diseases of the respiratory system, this medicine is the prevention of their exacerbations.

Indications

Bacteria in the “Immigene” are most often found in various respiratory infectious diseases, therefore, the drug helps to cure or prevent such pathologies:

  • bronchitis;
  • rhinitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • otitis;
  • pharyngitis;
  • tonsillitis;
  • laryngitis.

It is also often prescribed for influenza in order to prevent bacterial complications or to cure them if a bacterial infection has joined the viral infection. In chronic bronchitis, Ismigen is used prophylactically to prevent episodes of exacerbation.

From what age is appointed?

Since "Ismigen" should slowly dissolve in the mouth, such tablets are not used in the treatment of patients younger than three years old, since this method of administration is not suitable for young children.

Contraindications

The drug is not prescribed only to children with hypersensitivity to any of its components. There are no other contraindications besides intolerance and early age.

Side effects

Some children respond to Ismigen with a urticaria or skin inflammation, but this is extremely rare. In addition, in some patients, the drug can cause rhinitis, acute laryngitis or inflammation of the salivary glands.

If a child has such side effects of the pills, the medicine is immediately canceled and see a doctor.

Instructions for use

Tablets should be given to children on an empty stomach one piece per day. The medication should be placed under the tongue and wait for it to completely dissolve. Chew, bite or dissolve the pill can not. If the child is less than six years old, he should take the drug under adult supervision.

If a child has an acute infection, "Ismigen" is prescribed a course of at least 10 days. Prophylactic pill courses last 10 days and are usually repeated three times with a break of 20 days. The drug is prescribed prophylactically 1 or 2 times a year.

Overdose

There have been no cases when the child took a very high dose of "Immigrant" and this was the reason for the deterioration of health.

If this happens, it is recommended to induce vomiting and consult your doctor.

Interaction with other drugs

"Ismigen" is compatible with many other drugs, which are used for acute respiratory infections or chronic respiratory diseases. However, if the child is already taking some drugs, then it will be right to specify the possibility of simultaneous use with a pediatrician before starting treatment.

Terms of sale

"Ismigen" is an over-the-counter medicine, therefore, there are no difficulties with purchasing it at the pharmacy. The average price of 10 tablets is 500-540 rubles, and more than 30 tablets need to be paid for approximately 1300-1400 rubles per package.

Storage features

Any special conditions for the storage of "Emigene" is not necessary. Tablets should be put in a place inaccessible to children in which it will be dry and not hot (the temperature should not be more than +25 degrees).

Expiration date "Immigene" is 3 years and is listed on the package.

Giving this drug to a child, if the date marked on the pack has passed, is prohibited.

Reviews

On the treatment of children, "Ismigen" can be found mostly good reviews of parents, in whom the drug is called effective and they note that after a course of such tablets, children recovered faster or had a more acutely ill ARD.

Its advantages also include the method of administration (the child does not need to swallow tablets) and a pleasant taste. However, some little patients had no visible positive effect, and many mothers called the price of “Immigrant” too high.

Doctors treat this medication mostly well and are often prescribed to children, who often develop a runny nose, pharyngitis or other respiratory diseases. However, many pediatricians, among whom Dr. Komarovsky, a well-known mother, consider the immunomodulating effect of Immigene and similar drugs to be unproven. They are sure that The best way to strengthen the child’s immunity is not medication, but maintaining the health of children through a balanced diet, adequate physical activity and similar factors.
